Final Week Begins

Composition is this week's theme.

These are the buzzwords:

• Color, line, shape and space, value and tone, texture, volume and form.
• Emphasis, harmony, unity, opposition.
• Balance and tension.
• Motion, depth.

Required reading for this week is a couple of pages on composition in chapter 1 of Beautiful Botanicals. Optional is chapter 3 of Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.

There's an interesting exercise on applying the concepts behind the buzzwords to my earlier drawings as well as any other artwork.

Another exercise is to create thumbnail sketches of a set of objects to exercise my compositional pathways.
