Mullein

Here are some first year Mullein plants. This spring they will form yellow flower spikes to complete their lifecycle.

I've been looking for wintered over Mullein for some time now and was surprised by the washed out and almost rusty coloring of the leaves. I found these under a large White Pine on the shoreline that takes a strong northern wind.

A recent snowstorm dumped just shy of a foot of heavy, wet snow. I wish this little guy knew how to shovel.
