Mixing Exercise 21

Exercise 21 - The complementary pair, blue and orange, with mixed bright orange and green-blue. Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Scarlet, and Cerulean Blue.

I may have once again started with my orange on the red side, but the range of hues is extensive! I was floored by the greens--I had figured the browns would simply transition into the blues.

  1. I remember doing these studies years ago and being amazed by this combination..its those stunning greens! You remind me I should be stricter with my colour mixing!

  2. I recently realized that I could use these charts as a reference catalog. (The Wilcox book guides one to see how similar colors come up in different chart locations on different charts. Interesting...)

All this has me thinking about using charts in a more free-form fashion and that's a topic in today's post! :-)
