This fungus seems to have a hospitable relationship with its host.

A gall's invasiveness does seem to lead to the demise of the affected branches. This Pussy Willow had tens of galls. I'll be checking other willows for more of these.

These galls are hosted by what I think is an oak species but I'm having trouble with an ID. More work to be done here. This tree was absolutely loaded with galls.

This fallen but snagged branch had many jelly-like growths--they wobble like little chunks of Jello.
