A bit of background and a bit of toning down highlights to pull up the center and that's that. If I have learned one thing well from this piece, it's that easy does it. Slow and gentle buildup is how this works.

Silverpoint really does have a look all its own, doesn't it? You have captured every curve and texture of the leaves with great sensitivity; - and you really maintained that glow through out the entire piece. Beautiful!

ReplyDeleteI learn a little more each time. When I next try metalpoint, I will prepare my own ground rather than gesso board, perhaps on Bristol. I have Golden's ground too so there is plenty of experimentation to come.
