Aloe Starter

Here are a couple of shots of my new aloe plant that I'll use for reference. I'm building a tracing up right now. Not sure yet on the media but it's been a while since I've cracked an egg...

  1. The shoots are beautiful living sculptures, aren't they? I think I like the b & w version. It looks like a bowl of light. Looking forward to the study that follows...

Btw-I enjoyed the squirrel video very much. It looks so cold still in Ma.

  2. Isn't it fun to have various mediums to choose from? Sometimes subjects literally cry out for watercolor while for others, only acrylic, pastel or colored pencil ( or tempera!) will do. And I agree- the black & white version of the aloe looks like light is glowing from its center.

  3. Ya, me too on the b/w. Drama, perhaps. The spikes seem to jump out more.

Judith, it is so cold here! A recent few days of melting eased concerns of roof collapses but then right back to the cold. Right now it is 22 F. My reaction to that? Hey, it's not that bad! :-)

Lot's of us here have cabin fever...

  4. Gretchen, I'm tempted to go with graphite or silverpoint! Decisions to follow... :-)
