A Couple Of Revisits

I've recently been asking myself how it is that I am discovering new wildflower species. After all, shouldn't I have come upon them within the past two years? I guess there are always new discoveries!

Today, though, I get to present a couple of previously found species.

Wool Sowers Gall

Painted Turtle, Chrysemys picta, laying eggs.

  1. There is a quote from Thoreau that deals with your theme today- unfortunately I cannot put my finger on it at this moment to share here verbatim, but the gist of it is that it is a good thing that we cannot recognize (or even recall/remember) all of the plants we see on our walks because if we did, the excitement of our journey would be diminished- the thrill of the hunt would be gone- and we would not continue to venture forth into this beautiful amazing world of ours.

  2. The cool part of revisits is being able to look back on previous years for timing. You have mentioned doing this with your journals and I'm excited about now being able to do so here.

And when I look through my index and realize there is so much not here yet...
