There are a few Catalpa trees around the lake. These photos come from a little one that sprouted up in my yard just a few years ago. Although it doesn't color out with intense foliage, it does hold its own special beauty as the leaves go by.
Forgive my lack of daily comments lately- this time of year always seems to be one of quiet reflection for me. No complaints- far from it- I enjoy curling up with a cup of tea in the early darkness of late afternoon, looking back through my shelf of journals, seeing how far I have come (without ever having left my little town!) in the almost 6 years of keeping them. I worry that I might not ever be able to fill another volume- but then marvel at how much there is yet to be discovered! The coming months of winter bring a bit of welcomed time to paint and draw from all that I have gathered over the ever so short spring and summer. Funny thing is, despite what I just wrote, some of my winter journals are just as fat as my summer ones- I guess the desire to record and learn about one's natural surroundings knows no season! ~gretchen

A time of quiet contemplation...sounds lovely.
ReplyDeleteYour thoughts on worry resonate here. And yet, I believe the best is yet to come. :-)
