Lakeside

Leaves are not only turning; now they're dropping. Soon the lake will be surrounded with bare trees. Then the stilled ice will set in. But for now, I celebrate the color and motion. All photos generally point northward, beginning from the southwest shore and circling over to the southeast.

  1. So nice to see the "big picture" every once in awhile; it's something I have to remind myself to do- it allows one to experience a fuller sense of place. Quite often when out photographing for my journals, I forget to simply look up!
Our foliage is looking mighty sparse as well, with many trees (mostly maples) already bare; the only color left is the gold and copper from the oaks and beeches. I'm sure today's rain will take down even more leaves.

  2. Earlier this week a strong wind blew across the treetops and let loose a waterfall of leaves. It actually sounded like pouring rain as clouds of acorns released simultaneously.

Huge piles of pine cones and acorns this year!

The local forecast is light rain today but heavy rain and high winds overnight. Tomorrow ought to look a lot different around here!
