The Pokeweed is going by. This little triptych from last week details ripening, drying, and harvesting.
And a week later the vines collapsed, I think the recent heavy rains beat down the bushes heavily laden with fruit.
This is an interesting and rewarding time of year for me. I am able to revisit species identified earlier in the year, now capturing fruit, seed, and color change. I have a few more similar posts in the works and surprisingly some newly discovered species.
Pokeweed colors are phenomenal, the combo of raspberry purple stems and veins, the lime green leaves, the dramatic berries! - Joyce
