That's A Wrap

I've learned so very much with this piece. I suppose I could continue on, maybe with a bit more cleanup, but if that happens it will be down the road.  For now, I'm happy.

  1. I particularly love the petal on the left that sits at about 11 o'clock; its depth plays off the ethereal quality of the inner glow deep inside the lily, giving it a nice push/pull energy. I also think you choice of setting the orange lily against the subtle green undertones of the background (at least that's how I see it on my monitor) also contributes to that energy.
You should be happy with this; well done!

  2. Quite wonderful. I hope your retirement brings us plenty more egg tempera like this!
And now I am wondering, "what next?".

  3. Thanks, Gretchen! :-)

There is a lot to be said for proper contrasts, isn't there? Warms and cools, lights and darks, hard and soft edges... All working together to bring in interest.

My iMac via my scanner seems to reproduce color reasonably. I'd guess your Mac gives you a similar viewing experience as my own.

  4. Judith! Thank you! :-)

What next, indeed. I originally had a line in this post on pondering the next project and had edited it out. That "what next" thought has been on my mind all day!

  6. Thank you, Dorothy. I'm letting it rest before any more cheesecloth polishing. Then in a glass-covered frame for a while.
