Today I enrolled in a botanical art drawing course! I am very excited!
Upon asking my instructor, Marcia, what she thought about blogging my course experience, her reply was, "That sounds like fun! What a great idea!" I'll take that as a "yes". ;-)
The course starts in two weeks, but the first week is general orientation with interfaces and a test upload. I just got logged in today; I'll have more to say in the near future.
I started a groundnut pod drawing last evening. It was very lightly sketched in with a 4H so Photoshop did the value enhancement here. I'm thinking that just a few lines with varied weighting can hold a lot of information.
How exciting for you to be able to take a botanical drawing class on-line! I checked out the link and was thrilled to see that the class is under the auspices of Cornell- excellent! Cornell is deeply involved with the Isles of Shoals Marine Lab out on Appledore and last year they offered a 9 day intensive botanical illustration workshop which I had been very interested in, but did not take. Unfortunately they are not offering it this year. I think you are going to have a blast with this on-line class!

Yep, I'm thrilled. I have been interested for some time in classes at Wellesley Friends of Horticulture but the timing won't fit with my job. I'm saving that for retirement days.
ReplyDeleteThat is interesting about the Isles of Shoals offerings. Our area seems to be rich in botanical resources.
