Today I wandered about, here and there adding form and color. I tried glazing simply with added oil. Not a lot, but I wonder how it might affect drying time?
Greens are fascinating. I think I am dirtying them severely on the white palette and they still look very green on the panel!
As a "non" painter of oils, I can only sit back and watch your progress with eager anticipation and equal fascination. I feel as if I am truly watching a master at work here! ~ gretchen
It is quite humbling trying to copy Melendez. There is substantial documentation on pigments and possible brush techniques with, for instance Rembrandt or Velasquez, but not a lot for Melendez, it seems. I look at close up images wondering just how he accomplished that certain passage.
